Poem: And My Heart Is With You

The earth give’s way

the earth gives way

and still my heart is with you

Mountains,

crack like glass

the crashing down of might and monolith 

all a roar and rage around you

and my heart is with you

You will

fall, indeed you have been falling,

and I fall with you

gravity like that of a moon,

breaks across your chest

and my heart is with you

You weep, and rage,

and run and wage a thousand wars

in a moment,

and now you’re spent

and still, my heart is with you

Ever

ever

Ever present,

Firm, steadfast

Does it surprise you

that I am stronger than the mountains?

Deeper than the sea I cast them into

Wilder than leviathans frolicking there

“Let the earth give way,

and ocean swallow,

structure melting into

flood and storm

if only, Ever, you hold me”

Held you I have,

I will,

My heart is with you

And when the tempest passes:

New horizon, wrought in breaking

New breath, this undying,

Fresh crust of earth delivered

in promise through fire and sea,

And my heart will be with you
